Self Portrait

This self reflection began at the start of lockdown as a response to the disconnection from myself and my environment that I was feeling. Confronting these intangible emotions in as physical of a way as possible was the goal. I wanted to understand these feelings by making tangible proof of them that I could dissect and learn from. I learned that what we choose to keep around us will always become a part of what we relate to.This work focuses on the layers of what creates the self; family, national identity, stream of consciousness, body, possessions, and environment. Through the use of mixed media, I explore these topics as a method of self actualization.
